Richard Kern

without comments

I recently saw an article on Hypebeast about Mishka collaboration with Richard Kern. For those of you that are not familiar with Richard Kern. He is a widely acclaimed photographer for taking pictures of naked girls right now. And was also part of the underground film scene in NYC during the 80s as part of the Cinema Of Transgression.

As you all know, the idea behind our label Iggy Neon were based on the Cinema Of Transgression. Mostly influence by directors like Nick Zedd and Kenneth Anger. Hmm, seems like now the mainstream has finally pick this up with Mishka launching a series of tees with photos taken by Richard Kern. With a well established label like Mishka to touch on the Cinema Of Transgression, hopefully this will educate our tee consumers more about the idea and people behind this relatively unknown movement.

Iggy Neon will continue to push out designs inspired by the Cinema Of Transgression. Who came first, you decide.

Loop In Motion

with 4 comments

You can create your own Uniqlo loop here. Have fun!

This label from Japan sells tees for the masses at incredible low price! We got tons of stash from Uniqlo recently, we just can’t stop buying those beautiful tees at S$18 per tee and denim at S$45 all for ourselves! We could have bought the entire shop if we didn’t stop each other! We bought at least a piece of tee from the Photographer series, Manga collaboration tees, World Typographers series, Grand Prix series. The Eleven And The Only series and Jean-Michel Basquiat collobration tees are awesome. But those Terry Richardson x Uniqlo tees were nowhere to be seen, but I did manage to spot one of the staff wearing it. Should have make that dude sell his tee to me.

The magical hands of Terry Richardson.

The limited edition Uniqlo Anime series paper bag.

With flagship stores in New York, London, Paris, Hong Kong and finally Singapore. We are waiting patiently for the opening of this mighty Japanese clothing chain here.

She Lost Control

without comments

Remember the film CONTROL that we blog about few months back? Hailed as “the best film of the year: a tender, bleakly funny and superbly acted biopic of Curtis” by The Guardian newspaper in 2007, it is directed by veteran music video director and photographer Anton Corbijn. The film focuses on the tumultuous last years of Curtis’ life before he committed suicide in 1980, shortly before the band was to depart for its first American tour, at the age of 23.

4 established local creative agencies, Asylum, Ffurious, Phunk Studios and Work each customised a Gibson Les Paul guitar in tribute of the post punk UK band Joy Division. The Les Paul guitars are up for bidding on ebay. Only residents in Singapore are eligible to bid on this particular auction. All proceeds will be donated to the appointed charity, Samaritans of Singapore (SOS).

Here are the masterpiece.

Asylum

We really love the :P hunk Studio and fFurious designs.

:P hunk inspiration was based on the song ‘Transmission’ by Joy Division, of course. That track was released on Factory Records on Nov 1979 and it was this song which brought on an epileptic attack on Ian Curtis while performing on stage. That image was consider a very important scene in the history of the band. ‘Transmission’ is one of the best indie anthems ever!

fFurious inspiration was based on the dark era when Joy Division was formed back in the late 70s. Grey monotonous architecture, gloomy and doom Manchester. Quoting from ‘Shadowplay’, “To the centre of the city where all roads meet, waiting for you. In a room without window in the corner I found truth. In the shadowplay, acting out your own death, knowing no more.” Brilliant right?
